Old Kiev monuments remind us about the great events in the history of the state, unveil the mysteries from the lives of famous people, amaze with the nobility of architectural genius. And the monuments constructed by our contemporaries, by young artists, architects and designers emerge here and there to shed some positive rays on the city’s everyday life. Funny, weird and unexpected, they quickly become favorite attractions for the citizens.
One of the brightest examples of the fresh tide of young art on the city’s historical background is the playground on the Peyzazhna Aleya (Landscape alley). Through the gateway on one of the central streets, like Alice through the rabbit hole, you will get straight to the Wonderland where you will be met by the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit and the Blue Caterpillar accompanied by little lazy angels sitting on high pillow piles blowing their horns.
Two sprinkling fountains here are the little girl who climbed the back of the striped elephant together with her tiny pets and the lovely hugging zebras.

Friendly and not-at-all-scary wide-open mouths of the green hare, the violet robin and the spotted blue cats are the ideal settings for a funny photo, so the place is always crowded with those eager to take pictures.
However we’re far from the end of the trip here. And you can hardly get tired on your way as numerous unusual and peculiar benches perch on both sides of the alley. A water-melon bench, a sunglasses bench, a rocking bench… You will find it impossible not to try sitting on all of them for at least a couple of minutes!

This one here is in someone’s huge iron hands, that one is fixed on the very rooftop, and there is one you can’t help lying down on – so natural-looking are the checked plaid and the soft pillow on it.

Besides, the site is popular for the picturesque scenery of the Podol with the district of small colorful houses as if taken from a fairy tale book page.
The atmosphere of the place is so relaxing that one stops thinking of the everyday problems and starts believing in the good – all due to the merry little birds nestling here and there, the bright colors of the mosaic, and clay bells hanging from the trees.
The Landscape alley has gathered the creations of modern Kiev artists (Konstantin Skretutskyi and many others). However this is not the only place to find unusual monuments and architectural forms in the city. Worth seeing are the new monument to Chopin in shape of a white piano, the monument to the Kiev chestnuts, and the Lovers’ monument to name quite a few.
