Recently, the Dobovo content manager has gone to Lvov for the eighth time in her life. In this regard, she generously agreed to share some thoughts about what for and how you need to go there. Of course, everyone has different idea of Lvov – romance, alcoholic oblivion, gastronomic discoveries or humble tourism. All this does not cancel the fact that Lvov always brings adventures and endless fun. Here we tried to collect for you, our dear readers, 20 things to do in Lvov during a trip to this wonderful city, which will help you make the trip a little better.

Yes, overeat! We could write “eat”, but each of us knows in his heart that this word does not clearly describe the purpose of visits to numerous and various cafes and restaurants in the city. Prior to detailed description of recommendations we allow ourselves to express regret that the person on a leave is given only one stomach, but not three (the third for dessert).
1. The best solution for those who like simple but hearty cuisine is to visit “Zenik” – this cafe is famous for its potato pancakes, which suit a beer, as a picnic suits the spring. This outlet could be the ideal choice both for a snack, and for a long noisy feast – you decide.

2. You can have a delicious breakfast and a rest from hiking in “Strudel House” – a wonderful outlet that we recommend everyone for a visit. The main thing – be prepared for the choice which is going to be so big, and everything is going to be so good that you can lose consciousness from a gastronomic happiness. This entire splendor is complemented by the fact that every piece of strudel is served with a different sauce.

3. It is worth feeling the spirit of old Austria and indulging a variety of beverages in the “Siniaya Fliazhka”. This unique place can accommodate a very limited number of people; that is probably why it became so popular – everybody wishes to get there. But if you were lucky and you have put yourself on a small wooden chair with a menu in your hands, then be guided by intuition and try all the tinctures that you can. They are best in the world in the “Siniaya Fliazhka”. And sure, we are not motivating you to get drunk! Or, are we? 😉

4. Continuing the theme of the legendary Lvov tinctures and delicious food, we feel free to recommend going to “Gasova Lampa” which is positioned as a “museum-restaurant”. The thing is that it has the largest collection of gas lamps in Europe; the first one from them was invented right in Lvov. Our advice – go up to the top floor, choose a location with a view over the rooftops of the city, order the heartiest course (editor’s note: I am not going to look for a literature synonyms of “heartiest” because when the content manager goes on vacation, the editor is sitting in the office hungry). Your chosen heartiest course can be a potato with sausages with a ton of sauce. Please enjoy life and drink a glass of beer for our poor editor. Yes, it is simple like that!

Finally, a recommendation from the Dobovo project-manager that whispered in my ear that in “Restaurant of meat and justice” the best in the world bograch is served (editor’s note: this is a stew with lots of tasty ingredients in a platter made of fragrant bread, which you can then also eat). Also, we cannot miss the note that the specialty of the outlet – the meat and punishment (Dobovo project-manager’s note: meat and punishment – our everything). This is in case you thought that the name is some kind of a joke. In short, you must go!

6. The oldest drugstore in Lvov “Under the Black Eagle” is open since 1735 and it is not only possible to buy drugs there, but also to arrange an entertaining tour. The museum features rare artifacts – collection of bottles, cups, cones, recipes, and other entertaining things related to pharmaceutical activities.

7. Another unique museum – the Museum of Glass. It is also the only one of its kind in Europe. There are represented both ancient and modern items, which were imported from many countries. The Museum is located in the basement of the Bandinelli Palacco house – previously one of the richest houses in Lvov. So it is quite possible to kill two birds with one stone – to see the exhibits and visit the underground city beneath the sidewalks.

8. You can plunge into an interesting part of the history in the museum “Mermaid of the Dniester.” Its location alone should motivate travelers to visit! It is the bell tower of the Church of the Holy Spirit, on the top of which an old clock is installed. The museum is dedicated to history of the “Russian trinity” and appearance of the first western Ukrainian Almanac.

9. If in youth you were not a Goth and had no habit of spending leisure time in abandoned and not abandoned cemeteries, then you can easily fix it in Lvov by going to the Lychakov Cemetery. Firstly, it is already more than 200 years, and secondly, there are beautiful tombs there, which belonged to rich families of Lvov. Reasons for the visit are evident.

11. Start by lifting at the Lvov City Hall. Having done the hard climb along the countless steps and gotten on the top, you can see the whole city. 13. Walking through the center, step in the Dominican Cathedral, Bernardine Monastery, do not miss the Chapel of Boim and the Italian Courtyard. When you find another restaurant in the last one, run out to the Opera House, and then to the Potocki Palace. That is where you can stay for an hour or two, enjoy the architecture and, if it is hot, lie on the grass. It is very quiet and not fussy, so try not to fall asleep, as it once happened to the Dobovo content manager.

14. We almost forgot to send you to Dzhiga. In short, this place – bohemian hangouts. If you have not gotten tired of them in Kiev, you are welcome! All kinds of art are concentrated here – performances, painting, sculpture and so on. Excellent opportunity to join the urban underground.

15. Again up! If your energy still did not leave you, our dear readers, and also if you are not on heels and your shoes do not rub, run to the High Castle! This is a park with panoramic views. An ancient legend says – where the panorama is, there you will make cool pictures. Do not miss the chance.

16. Firstly, why do not you just go and get lost somewhere? If you are in town for the first time, it will be not very difficult. Turn into the first courtyard (no crime), explore the nooks and do not think about where it will lead you. Do not let the spirit of adventure leave you. Perhaps you will meet a sweet Lvov grandmother, who will show you the way back and treat with a couple of town legends, or you will find your love.
17. This implies the following advice – get acquainted! In Lvov live wonderful people who never even think to refuse in help and company. Evening at the Rynok Square attracts young people with guitars, and on weekends the city is just walking. No, of course, there is no need to run up to each person with Lvov accent and impose a dialogue with you, let everything happen naturally. Personally, I once was lucky to meet indigenous Lvov residents who showed me a couple of interesting and touristic places, and one aspiring actor was reading me and my friends the poems of Shevchenko. So be free and open, no one will bite you.
18. Speak Ukrainian. Even if you speak Russian in your daily life, this practice will only benefit. This place just incites to switch to Ukrainian, because here it sounds particularly sweet and beautiful. There is a chance to learn the slang words and dialects, and then come to Kiev and brag to your friends and colleagues. Be curious!
19. Walk till the morning. Yes, forget about sleep. Why should you waste precious time in Lvov on sleep and sitting on the sofa? So we think. And let the burden from what you ate and drank not press you, but on the contrary, give you strength and energy. The main thing – do not be afraid to miss the train, and even if they are late – welcome the opportunity to spend an extra day in the city. Forget about mobile phones and social networks, and even allow yourself not to answer the call from your work, because it is nothing for you in comparison to watching the sunrise with a partner or friends.
20. Finally, no matter how magical is Lvov, never stop at one place; take a ticket and move on – aimlessly. After all, there are still so many things that you have not seen. Are you afraid?!
