The demand for daily rent of apartments will traditionally increase on the New Year`s Eve. The Dobovo team decided to tell when to start looking for an apartment: in advance (2-3 months before) or directly in the New Year’s bustle? At the moment, according to Dobovo, 73% of apartments are booked in Kyiv on New Year’s night, 97% – in Lviv, 80% – in Odessa.
If we talk about cost of December 31st – January 1st, then it will be distributed as follows:
- Kyiv. The minimum cost — accommodation in the hostel – 70 UAH. The average cost — 1000 UAH. The most expensive accommodation —35500 UAH;
- Lviv. The minimum cost — accommodation in the hostel – 100 UAH. The average cost — 2500 UAH. The most expensive accommodation — 10000 UAH.
- Odessa. The minimum price —accommodation in the hostel – 85 UAH. The average cost — 1000 UAH. The most expensive accommodation — 25900 UAH.
As for the price increase, if we take, for example, Lviv (because winter is the tourist season for this city), we can say that an apartment with a base price of 600 UAH will cost 2500 UAH on the New Year’s Eve. There is no average mark-up. The owner decides on how much increase the price, so that the apartment will be rented.
According to Dobovo, the average price of renting an apartment for New Year’s Eve in 2016 (31.12.2016-01.01.2017) was in Kyiv — 1589.36 UAH, in Lviv — 1141.17 UAH, Odessa — 1265.00 UAH.
From year to year most of owners act according to the following scheme: during the period of New Year`s holidays set rates, which increase prices in two-four times on accomodation in comparison to low season. Also, they increase minimal amount nights for renting (at least 3 night).
Some owners do not confirm booking in advance (a month earlier), they are waiting for the moment when prices on renting will reach its maximum during the New Year’s boom. They want to get the maximum profit from renting an apartment. Therefore, booking an apartment for the New Year is better in advance — for 2-3 months.
For people who want to rent an apartment on the eve of holidays in such cities as Kyiv and Odessa, there is a small trick. You can wait until the last days of December.
