Mamaeva Sloboda
The holiday before Lent is called Shrovetide, it is usually celebrated with pancakes and burning a winter stuffed animal. However, on the territory of Ukraine this week was held in a different way, with its original traditions and rites.
Every day the hostess prepared dumplings with cheese, so this week was also called Syrup. Another interesting rite was wearing a shoe, hence the second name – Kolodiy. If you want to get acquainted with all the folk traditions, we offer a visit to “Mamaeva Sloboda” on Kolodiy.

Inflammatory Shrovetide at the Expocenter of Ukraine
There is a great tradition in Kyiv – to meet winter and say goodbye to it at the Expocenter of Ukraine! You will be treated to pancakes with a dozen different fillings on the street food court, will hold traditional themed parties and competitions, will arrange a holiday concert!
Among the activities: tug of war, bag fights, shooting competitions, stilt walking, workshops on forging lucky horseshoes and much more.

Pirogovo
Shrovetide is a unique and bright holiday, full of folk customs and rites. Our ancestors believed that songs, dances and various spells can drive away Winter and summon Spring.
Folk groups will perform at the festival, recreating ancient rites and singing folk songs for visitors. Guests will be entertained with traditional folk entertainment and treated to dumplings, pancakes and compote.

Ethno-complex “Ukrainian village”
Shrovetide will also take place in the ethnocomplex “Ukrainian Village”, which is located near Kiev. In the program: games on the lawn with guests, “swaddle pads”, joint singing of spring songs, dances and games, folk entertainment for children and adults
You will also be able to take part in master classes in traditional crafts, taste pancakes, Cossack kulish, barbecue, hot drinks.
