Celebrations will begin in advance – August 22
To celebrate Independence Day 2017 in the capital will be on a grand scale. So, the celebrations will begin two days before the official date – on Tuesday, August 22. Everything begins with the opening of the exposition under the open sky. The exhibition will be devoted to armament: a large arsenal of military equipment will be presented here. Kyiv and the guests of the capital will be able to see the exposition on Khreshchatyk Street: from the Institute to the European Square.
On Wednesday, August 23, Ukraine officially marks the Day of the National Flag. On this day you can see the ceremony of solemn lifting of the flag by the president on Sofia Square, as well as the gala concert “Ukrainians in the World” with the participation of teams from Argentina, Canada, Poland, the USA and Ukraine.
What awaits Kyiv on August 24?
On Independence Day, citizens of Kyiv and visitors of the city expect:
- Holding a concert dedicated to the Independence Day on the Kontraktova Square;
A holiday of arts on Andreevsky Spusk; - Independence parade;
River Regatta on the Dnieper; - Conducting the national-patriotic festival “Unity of twin-cities” from August 24 to August 26 in the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life “Pirogovo”;
- From 12:00 to 20:00, a folk art fair is planned to be held at the National Center for Folk Culture “The Ivan Gonchar Museum”;
- On the summer stage in the Mariinsky Park on August 24 from 13:00 to 17:00 there will be a concert of creative collectives of ethnic communities, and from 18:00 to 22:00 – a concert of municipal creative groups in Kiev;
- On the Rusanovskaya embankment there will be a race in embroidered shirts.
The next day, August 25, on the summer stage in the Mariinsky Park from 19:00 it is planned to hold an international arts festival.
