Maslenitsa 2017: where to go out and eat pancakes in Kyiv

During this week Ukrainians celebrate one of the oldest Slavic holidays – Maslenitsa. Since ancient times, this rite is associated with the beginning of spring, joy and folk festivals. Our ancestors not only baked pancakes and burned an effigy of winter. They also… greeted the New Year. Thеy believed that this transition has a deep sense. It means the birth of life through the struggle, death and resurrection.
