Lviv is very often compared to Cracow, moreover they are twin cities. Now it is easier for Ukrainians to get to Poland, so why not make sure personally whether it is true? We have prepared for you a selection of places, which you should definitely visit in Krakow.
1. Main Square (Rynek Glowny)
All roads lead to Main Square in Cracow, as Town Hall, St. Mary’s Basilica and Cloth Hall are located there. It is the epicenter of city life. This square is always full of life and a lot of tourists. There are many restaurants and pubs in this area, and a lot of performances by street musicians are held in the evening.
2. St. Mary’s Church (Kościół Mariacki)
One of the most recognizable landmarks of Cracow. This place is striking in its grandeur for the art lovers and passers-by both.
3. Cloth Hall (Sukiennice)
In the middle of Cracow’s Main Square the famous Cloth Hall is located, which was built in the Renaissance period. The history of this place dates back to the 15th century. It was a place of international trade.
4. Underground Museum (Podziemia Rynku)

5. Church of Saints Peter and Paul (Kościół Świętych Apostołów Piotra i Pawła)

6. Wawel

7. Wawel Castle (Zamek Królewski na Wawelu)
The most visited castle in Poland is Wawel Castle. This Royal Palace belongs a UNESCO World Heritage. The castle is located on a hill, which is associated with the foundation of the city. It is a place full of history.
8. Wawel Cathedral (Bazylika archikatedralna św. Stanisława i św. Wacława)
Wawel Cathedral is considered sacred and the main religious building in Poland. The building is filled with lots of architectural features. The most impressive of them is Zygmunt chapel in Renaissance style. Zygmunt Bell is situated in one of the towers of the cathedral, it is the largest bell in Poland. It was made in 1520 and has a diameter of more than 2 meters and weighs about 11 tons. Most of the Polish royal families are buried in the cathedral with other national heroes and artists.
9. Theatre Juliusz Slowacki (Teatr im. Juliusza Słowackiego)
You should visit a Theater Juliusz Slowacki in Baroque style (built in the 19th century) in addition to all the historical places in Cracow.
10. Schindler’s Factory (Fabryka Emalia Oskara Schindlera)
Schindler’s factory is located in the historical part of the city, its owner was Oskar Schindler. During the Second World War, he rescued from the destruction more than a thousand Jews. The museum has a permanent and temporary exhibition.
11. Kazimierz
It is part of the city, which also belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage. This is former Jewish district, which has seven synagogues, two of them are still working now, as well as famous Jewish Bazaar. These neighborhoods have a big history, walking these streets is an incredible fun.
12. Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCAK)
The museum is located in the old halls of the Schindler’s factory and was opened in 2011. Exhibition activity MOCAK mainly revolves around the art of the last two decades. The permanent collection of the museum includes works of artists from around the world.
13. Concentration camp of Auschwitz
The infamous Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz is a place that affected not only the Jewish people, but all mankind. At the place of hurriedly dismantled the gas chambers of Birkenau was built memorial, containing the memorable messages on 20 languages, including Ukrainian.
