Ukrainian football was born in Lviv
The first documented Ukrainian football match took place in Lviv. This significant event took place on July 14, 1894 in Lviv’s Stryj Park.
Then, in 1894, two teams played each other – Lviv and Krakow. Lviv won a clear victory.
The city is an inventor and discoverer
Lviv is an inventive city. It was here that the first liquid fuel balloon was launched into the air, the typhus vaccine was discovered, and a kerosene lamp was invented.
For the first time in Ukraine, a tram was launched in Lviv, a professional theater was established and the first Ukrainian school was opened. And in 1574 the first book in Ukraine was published here – “The Apostle”. A monument to its author, Ivan Fedorov, stands in the heart of the city.
