We continue to acquaint you with the people, without which Dobovo simply could not exist – the owners of apartments. Here is a series of interviews “Daily rental business: The other side” to your attention. Our aim is to highlight all of the aspects of the work in this area from the other, owner’s side.

Valeria, the apartments’ owner from Odessa, gladly agreed to tell us about this business, describe the main features, and share her impressions of the first steps in the field of daily rental.

How long have you been in daily rental business? Why did you choose this particular field?

I have been doing this not so long – just two months. The idea of daily rental business came to me after the repair of the building ended.

Which difficulties appear in this field? What are the problems you face as a house-owner?

The most difficult thing that you would encounter in the daily rental business is the people. This is about guests and personnel both. It’s always hard to work with people.

Is there any advice you can give to the owners-beginners?

You should be patient and you should not deviate from your principles and rules under any circumstances. Deposit – hence, the deposit; documents — hence, the documents. And not a step backwards.

Have you dealt with difficult guests? How to deal with them?

All guests are special and different. As I started to work in this field recently, I have never come across one. I set up the appropriate prices of my apartments for this. And most importantly, you must be polite, but also remain firm in your intentions.

What if you know that the apartment have rented for an event?

I do not rent the apartments for such cases.

Please, tell us about the most interesting case of all the time. What is that one in your practice you will never forget?

So far, nothing out of the ordinary happened. It’s too early to tell. I hope it will be alright in the future too. I expect all my guests will maintain appropriate manners.

Do you provide bonuses for the loyal clients?

It too early to provide the bonuses. However, I’ll think about it in the future.

Have you ever used the services of the daily rent?

Yes, I used to. However, I did not like. In those apartments were not enough towels and, as a rule, there were poor-quality furniture and plumbing. In some cases, there were no light bulbs (some owners save electricity in this way).

What are the messages you can tell a person who wants to book an apartment?

Book it only on the special sites or on the recommendation of people you trust. And, please, treat with the care to the rented apartment because the owner is trying to make your stay more comfortable. There need to practise mutual respect.
